Zhenzhong Hu

    He received both his BE and PhD degree in the Department of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University, China. He was a visiting researcher in Carnegie Mellon University.
    He is now the associate professor in Shenzhen International Graduate School, Tsinghua University, and also the secretary general of the BIM Specialty Committee of the China Graphics Society.
    His research interests include information technologies in civil and marine engineering, building information modeling (BIM) and digital disaster prevention and mitigation.

    The First National BIM Academic Conference, which was hosted by the BIM Specialty Committee of China Graphic Academy, and sponsored by Glodon Software Co., Ltd. and the editorial department of "Journal of Graphics", was held in Beijing Goldon Information Building from October 31st to November 1st, 2015. It was the first large-scale academic conference in China particularly focusing on BIM. More than 200 people including teachers and students from fifty-five colleges and universities in 23 national provinces and cities, as well as leaders, chief engineers, and BIM technicians from construction companies participated in the conference to share the development and application of BIM. The thesis "Research on Parking Dynamic Model Based on BIM" submitted by the research team won the excellent thesis award.

    The 32nd CIB W78 Annual Conference was held in Eindhoven, Netherlands, from October 26th to 29th, 2015. The conference was held annually in the fields of information technology for the architecture and civil engineering. Peilong Tian and Hengwei Wang, from the research team, respectively presented the papers entitled "BIM-based Meticulous Construction Management for Metro Station Projects: A Case Study" and "BIM-based Onsite Location-dynamic Information Integration and Management" at the conference.     The 15th International Conference on the Application of Virtual Reality in Construction Engineering (CONVR) was held in Banff, Canada in October, 2015. The conference was held annually in the fields of information technology for the architecture and civil engineering, such as virtual reality and augmented reality. Dr. Jiarui Lin from our research team, presented the paper entitled "Visualization and automatic verification of a schedule-driven 4D model" at the conference.     Professor Kincho Law, a well-known scholar in the field of information technology for construction from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in Stanford University, visited the Department of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University and gave a keynote talk entitled "Data-Driven Control Optimization with Machine Learning-Wind Farm Power Maximization as an Exemplar". Subsequently, we had in-depth exchanges on the research topic of "A multi-server information-sharing environment for cross-party collaboration on private cloud".

    Experts from the Ministry of Science and Technology convened a metaphase review meeting on the subject about the "Research and Application of Digital Development Technology Based on Green Residentials within the Building Lifecycle", which is supported by the National High-Tech Research and Development Program (863 Program), on September 8th, in Beijing. At the meeting, Professor Jianping Zhang, director of the project from the department of civil engineering, Tsinghua University, introduced the accomplishments and the funds of the project. The experts affirmed the accomplishments of the project, and suggested future orientations for the next phase. I am honored to undertake a sub-project "Research on Digital Operation Management Technology for Green Residentials" and one of the industry standards on "BIM-based Green House Product Basic Data Standard".
