Zhenzhong Hu

    He received both his BE and PhD degree in the Department of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University, China. He was a visiting researcher in Carnegie Mellon University.
    He is now the associate professor in Shenzhen International Graduate School, Tsinghua University, and also the secretary general of the BIM Specialty Committee of the China Graphics Society.
    His research interests include information technologies in civil and marine engineering, building information modeling (BIM) and digital disaster prevention and mitigation.

    The Second National BIM Academic Conference, hosted by the BIM Specialty Committee of China Graphic Society ("BIM Special Committee" for short) and organized by Guangzhou Metro Group and Construction Supervision Company of Guangzhou Metro, was held in Guangzhou Baiyun International Conference Center. Totally 700 people including teachers and students from colleges and universities in multiple national provinces and cities, as well as leaders, chief engineers, and BIM technicians from construction companies and rail transit industry attended the conference. The two-day conference had four sections, including keynote talks, presentations, the special section for rail transit, and three stations on the southern extension of Guangzhou Metro Line 4. As one of the organizers and the general secretary of the BIM Special Committee, I hosted the opening ceremony and keynote sections on the morning of the 12th.

    On October 27th, invited by Yanhong Su and Yonghai Wang, direct and chief of Urban-Rural Construction Commission of Guangzhou Municipality, I made a presentation with the title "Latest BIM-based Applications and Development in Infrastructure Construction" in the Guangzhou Urban Transport Leading Group Office. About 50 people including Mr. Su participated. He indicated that they will make great efforts on the applications of BIM technology in multiple projects to promote the capability of management and save the costs.

    Recently, the 863 sub-projects "Research of Digital Development Technology Based on Green Residentials within the Building Lifecycle", has achieved some research progress. Three experts from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development Information Center carefully tested every function on the developed software "Digital Development Technology Based on Green Residentials within the Building Lifecycle" (LC-FGB-FM, registration number: 2016SR269712) at Heshanheng Building of Tsinghua University on October 22nd, in Beijing. Then the“BIM-based Green Residentials Product Basic Data Standard (Peer Review edition)”was reviewed by seven experts on October 25th.

    On October 18th, 2016, our group made a discussion with Kang Xu, the deputy chief engineer of Shanghai Zhuyuan Engineering Management Co., Ltd. on the subject of "BIM-based Operation and Maintenance Management" at the Shenzhen Graduate School of Tsinghua University, and exchanged opinions on the system development of an operation and maintenance platform for Shanghai International Financial Center project.
