The Construction Department of Hubei Province appraised the final achievements on the project "Research and Application of BIM-Based Factory Construction on Designing Pump Units", which were jointly developed by the research team and the First Engineering Co., Ltd. Of the China Construction Third Bureau, has reached the world’s advanced level. This technology was mainly composed of modular design calculation, factory preassembly and field installation. After comprehensive and deep designing of the pump units by BIM technology, the presented solution promoted to generate the layouts and assembly drawings from BIM models to factory preassembly, the pump units in the machine room are one-off installed by unit modules, which effectively reduced the number of field workers, ensured the product quality, improved the operating efficiency to shorten the construction period.
