Zhenzhong Hu

    He received both his BE and PhD degree in the Department of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University, China. He was a visiting researcher in Carnegie Mellon University.
    He is now the associate professor in Shenzhen International Graduate School, Tsinghua University, and also the secretary general of the BIM Specialty Committee of the China Graphics Society.
    His research interests include information technologies in civil and marine engineering, building information modeling (BIM) and digital disaster prevention and mitigation.

    On January 31st, 2015, at the final reply of the 3rd "Long Tu Cup" BIM contest, students Xiaoyang Zhang and Hengwei Wang participated in the competition of college group. Their work "BIM-based structural analysis model conversion system and its application" received unanimous praise from the judges and was awarded the only first prize in this group.     The annual summary report of the scientific research project of "Tsinghua University (School of Civil Engineering)-Glodon Software Co., Ltd. Joint Research Center for BIM" was held in Glodon Building on January 29th, 2015. The project directors and undertakers respectively reported on the progress of 2014 in 14 scientific research projects (including 3 basic research projects, 10 system research and development projects, and 1 industrialization project), to promote communication between the two sides, and further clarify annual work plan and cooperation mode. More than 30 people including Zhizhong Diao, Zhenggang Yuan, Shaoshan Wang, the board chairman and vice-president of Glodon Software Co., Ltd. respectively, and Jianping Zhang, Zhiliang Ma, Dongping Fang, and Hongling Guo, professor and associate professor from Tsinghua University and other project principal attended the meeting.

    I was invited to give a keynote speech on the topic of "Status and Development of BIM Researches" at the "Green Building BIM Technology Exchange and Site Observation Conference" held in Hefei, Anhui Province on January 28th , 2015. The conference was organized by the Anhui Building Energy Efficiency and Science and Technology Association and hosted by the China Construction Third Bureau First Engineering Co., Ltd.

    Jianping Zhang, Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering of Tsinghua University, was awarded the honorary of "National Outstanding Scientific and Technical Worker" by the China Graphic Society, reviewed and approved by the National Outstanding Scientific and Technical Worker Appraisal Committee and the NPC Standing Committee of Chinese Science and Technology Association. "National Outstanding Scientific and Technical Worker" as an award that established by the Chinese Science and Technology Association for the vast number of nationwide scientific and technological workers in 1997. Since 2010, the national outstanding scientific and technological workers have been selected every two years, with no more than 1,000 commendations each time. The title of "National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker" was awarded as the lifetime honor to the grantee only once, The selected scope of the workers, including Natural science, technological science, engineering technology and related scientific fields, who have worked for research and development, popularization, the cultivation of qualified scientists and technicians, and the promotion of the combination about the technology and economy.

    The contract on the project "Research and Development on BIM-Based Rail Transit Management Platform" was signed by the research team and the Construction Supervision Company of Guangzhou Metro. It was a good tool to design, develop and build the BIM-Based Detailed Management Platform for the construction process to the construction and supervision participants. This project will not only make a demonstrated role for the landing application of BIM, but also provide new tools and instruments for the rail transit informationization.
