Peilong Tian, the third master student under my supervision, successfully passed his thesis defense in the Department of Civil Engineering of Tsinghua University. His master degree thesis entitled "Monitoring and Management of Equipment during Maintenance Period Based on BIM and BAS". Because the management efficiency were in low levels, especially in the operation and maintenance management in the AEC industry, the research implemented storage of monitoring information in the BAS by extending the Industry Foundation Class(IFC) attribute set using the IFC-based information extension method from the information storage layer, made a research on critical technologies for integration of multi-protocol-oriented dynamic monitoring system and BIM open platform from the information integration layer, and studied the application of parking monitoring information in intelligent management of the parking lot, the application of indoor environment monitoring information in comfort evaluation, and the application of water level and quality monitoring information in intelligent O&M of water plants to expand the application scope of the BIM. The system was applied in the Beijing Huaifang Water Recycling Plant Project. In a word, the study supports a complete solutions and relevant models for intelligent monitoring and management to improve the building O&M management.
