Zhenzhong Hu

    He received both his BE and PhD degree in the Department of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University, China. He was a visiting researcher in Carnegie Mellon University.
    He is now the associate professor in Shenzhen International Graduate School, Tsinghua University, and also the secretary general of the BIM Specialty Committee of the China Graphics Society.
    His research interests include information technologies in civil and marine engineering, building information modeling (BIM) and digital disaster prevention and mitigation.

    21 delegators from the Construction & Operation Department and Construction Supervision Company of Guangzhou Metro, and the Supervision Association of Guangzhou, visited Tsinghua University with the accompany of our group on October 30th, 2014. During this symposium, Jianping Zhang, the Professor of Department of Civil Engineering and the leader of our group, presented the research accomplishments based on BIM. We had further discussions about BIM-based applications and developments in practical engineering and collaborative projects.

    The Fifth Young Teachers Basic Teaching Skills Competition of the School of Civil Engineering, Tsinghua University, was held in Beijing Police College on October 5th, 2014. Six teachers from the School of Civil Engineering fully demonstrated their teaching ideas, methods and abilities, and promoted the communications about teaching skills with each other. It was my honor to win the first prize, and I will continue to work hard to do well in teaching in the future.

    On October 24th, 2014, my master student Xiangxiang Chen, delegated by Tsinghua University, presented to the First Engineering Co., Ltd. Of the China Construction Third Bureau on the BIM-based factorial processing management system, and garnered recognitions and accolades. Attendants include Zhibing Mao, Yungui Li, Jingbo Zhang, and other executives and leaders from the company.

    "Research on the BIM-based Safety Management Technologies for Large Public Buildings during Operation and Maintenance" was approved by the National Science Foundation of China. Please refer to "Research Projects" section for details. The research will start from 2015.1 and last for 4 years.

    On August 29th, 2014, together with the Construction Department and Construction Supervision Company of Guangzhou Metro, our group reported the survey progress of the project "Research on the BIM-Based Integrated Rail Transit Management Platform" to Jianlong Ding, the deputy general manager and general manager of Guangzhou Metro, and Guangwu Liu, the vice deputy general manager and vice general manager of Guangzhou Metro, respectively. Both reports were highly regarded and commended by the leaders of Guangzhou Metro. Mr. Ding remarked that the Guangzhou Metro strongly supported the research and development of the project, and he hoped that Tsinghua University, the construction department, and the construction supervision company could jointly and continuously make progress on the research and development of the project, with the endeavor of comprehensive application to the construction of the new Guangzhou-Foshan Line by the end of 2014, and to all new Guangzhou Metro lines the next year.
