Zhenzhong Hu

    He received both his BE and PhD degree in the Department of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University, China. He was a visiting researcher in Carnegie Mellon University.
    He is now the associate professor in Shenzhen International Graduate School, Tsinghua University, and also the secretary general of the BIM Specialty Committee of the China Graphics Society.
    His research interests include information technologies in civil and marine engineering, building information modeling (BIM) and digital disaster prevention and mitigation.

    On August 29th, 2014, together with the Construction Department and Construction Supervision Company of Guangzhou Metro, our group reported the survey progress of the project "Research on the BIM-Based Integrated Rail Transit Management Platform" to Jianlong Ding, the deputy general manager and general manager of Guangzhou Metro, and Guangwu Liu, the vice deputy general manager and vice general manager of Guangzhou Metro, respectively. Both reports were highly regarded and commended by the leaders of Guangzhou Metro. Mr. Ding remarked that the Guangzhou Metro strongly supported the research and development of the project, and he hoped that Tsinghua University, the construction department, and the construction supervision company could jointly and continuously make progress on the research and development of the project, with the endeavor of comprehensive application to the construction of the new Guangzhou-Foshan Line by the end of 2014, and to all new Guangzhou Metro lines the next year.

    On August 19th, 2014, on behalf of our group, Xiangxiang Chen presented the final achievements on the collaborated project "BIM-Based Factorial Construction (Design, Processing, Storage) Management System" to representatives from the First Engineering Co., Ltd. Of the China Construction Third Bureau along with a system demonstration. The project started in April, 2013 and finished 15 months since then. Liang Wang, chief engineer from the Installation Branch, highly remarked the final research accomplishments and expressed his intention for future cooperation.

    On August 11th, 2014, Jianguo Nie, the director of the Institute of Coastal Engineering and Structural Safety, met with Professor Feiyu Kang, dean of Tsinghua Shenzhen Graduate School, and Professor Yongjiu Shi, chair of the School of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering of Tsinghua university, in Beijing, to discuss the future orientations and plans for the Institute of Coastal Engineering and Structural Safety.
