Zhenzhong Hu

    He received both his BE and PhD degree in the Department of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University, China. He was a visiting researcher in Carnegie Mellon University.
    He is now the associate professor in Shenzhen International Graduate School, Tsinghua University, and also the secretary general of the BIM Specialty Committee of the China Graphics Society.
    His research interests include information technologies in civil and marine engineering, building information modeling (BIM) and digital disaster prevention and mitigation.

    In order to promote the extensive and in-depth development and application of BIM technology in Chinese construction field, the Fourth "Longtu Cup" National BIM Contest Launching Ceremony and the Third "Longtu Cup" National BIM Contest Award Presentation Ceremony and Summit Forum were successfully hosted on May 23rd, 2015, in Beijing by the China Graphic Academy. These events were under the guidance of government departments and scientific research institutions including Chinese Society of Science and Technology, the Educational Training Centre of Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China, China Architectural Scientific Research Institute, Tsinghua University and Beihang University. Xiaoyang Zhang, from our research team, gave a speech in the summit forum and presented the first prize work, "Research and Application of BIM-based structural analysis model conversion system".     Invited by the the center of diagnosis and treatment of Shenzhen Tsinghua Garden Architectural Design Co., Ltd. I presented the academic speech entitled "Research and Application of BIM Technology in the Design Phase". Professor Zhengqi Luo, Hongwen Liang, Pingjing Yu and Zhu Chen, the Deputy Chief Architect, participated in the whole speech. More than 100 people from Tsinghua Garden Architectural Design Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Building Scientific Research Institute and other organizations participated in the speech.     The QS World University Rankings (annual world university rankings published by the educational organization Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)) was released in 2015, fifty-eight universities in the mainland of China selected among the top 400 in top rankings. The Civil Engineering, from Tsinghua University, ranked 7th all over the world, and it was the highest subject rankings in Asian universities.

    The meeting of commending the national model workers and advanced works, and celebrating the International Labor Day, were held in The Great Hall of the People on April 28th. Yunshan Liu announced the commendation decision and at the same time pointed out that since 2010, especially since the 18th National Congress of the Party, a large number of advanced model people who were willing to devote, courage to innovations and having noble personality and outstanding achievements, have emerged from various industries, the CPC and the State Council decided to award 904 national advanced workers. Jianguo Nie, Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering in School of Civil and hydraulic Engineering, won the honorary of "National Advanced Workers".
