Zhenzhong Hu

    He received both his BE and PhD degree in the Department of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University, China. He was a visiting researcher in Carnegie Mellon University.
    He is now the associate professor in Shenzhen International Graduate School, Tsinghua University, and also the secretary general of the BIM Specialty Committee of the China Graphics Society.
    His research interests include information technologies in civil and marine engineering, building information modeling (BIM) and digital disaster prevention and mitigation.

    4 guests including Dr. Aijun Zhang, deputy director of Technology Center of Shenzhen Road & Bridge Group, visited the Institute of Coastal Engineering and Structural Safety in Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University. We discussed the development issues of infrastructures in Shenzhen, especially the BIM-based applications on roads & bridges projects. The research team presented the research achievements of the Institute and the research team, Mr. Zhang highly remarked the achievements on BIM-based development and applications, and expressed his intention for future cooperation. Subsequently, we visited the Ocean Building, which will be delivered soon.

    2016 Annual Report of "Research on the BIM-based Safety Management Technologies for Large Public Buildings during Operation and Maintenance Phase" funded by the National Natural Science Foundation was successfully appraised by its committee. We summarized the research and implementation plans, including vital technologies, such as "Integrating, Transforming and Sharing for BIM-based information in Different Phases", "Operation and Maintenance Information Management based on Cloud Computing Technologies", "Monitor and access for safety index", "Safety Analysis Technologies for time-varying structures During Operation and Maintenance Phase" and "Safety Analysis and Emergency Management Technologies for MEP During Operation and Maintenance Phase" in this reported. Based on these researches, the research team completed the design of system on the BIM-based safety management technologies for large public buildings, established the distributed database based on BIM. Then we are going to develop the BIM-SMP system from next year on.

    The Sixth "Longtu Cup" National BIM Contest Launching Ceremony and the Fifth "Longtu Cup" National BIM Contest Award Presentation Ceremony and Summit Forum were held on December 17th, in Beijing. Under the guidance of China Graphic Society, China Association for Science and Technology, Center of Education and Training of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, Energy Saving and Technology Centre of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China, China Academy of Building Research, Tsinghua University and Beihang University, this conference was held by Civil Engineering and BIM Specialty Committee of China Graphic Society. The project "BIM-based Application Achievements on the second construction phrase of Guangzhou metro in Guanhu Line" adopted the BIM -based management platform for Guangzhou Metro to realize the digital construction management, aiming to improve the efficiency and ensure the quality and safety in construction, The project has received unanimous praise from the judges and is awarded the first prize in the construction group.

    The Second National BIM Academic Conference, hosted by the BIM Specialty Committee of China Graphic Society ("BIM Special Committee" for short) and organized by Guangzhou Metro Group and Construction Supervision Company of Guangzhou Metro, was held in Guangzhou Baiyun International Conference Center. Totally 700 people including teachers and students from colleges and universities in multiple national provinces and cities, as well as leaders, chief engineers, and BIM technicians from construction companies and rail transit industry attended the conference. The two-day conference had four sections, including keynote talks, presentations, the special section for rail transit, and three stations on the southern extension of Guangzhou Metro Line 4. As one of the organizers and the general secretary of the BIM Special Committee, I hosted the opening ceremony and keynote sections on the morning of the 12th.
