Zhenzhong Hu

    He received both his BE and PhD degree in the Department of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University, China. He was a visiting researcher in Carnegie Mellon University.
    He is now the associate professor in Shenzhen International Graduate School, Tsinghua University, and also the secretary general of the BIM Specialty Committee of the China Graphics Society.
    His research interests include information technologies in civil and marine engineering, building information modeling (BIM) and digital disaster prevention and mitigation.

    The research team participated, in the Second Quarter Symposium in 2018 of the project "Key technologies for Database and Data integrated of Building and MEP system". Every directors and researchers attended this conference. The research team reported the progress on "Standardized Big Data Extraction Technology of Building and MEP system based on Energy Consumption Monitoring system". In the previous three months, we mainly improved the building energy information model for dynamic monitoring, primarily designed the energy monitoring system, and the interface to the cloud database.

    I gave a presentation entitled "Real-time Data Mining and Analysis for Tunnel Boring Machine" in the construction management department of the Guangzhou Metro Line 18 and 22. Nearly 20 people, including Dong Zou, secretary of the Construction Department of Guangzhou Metro, Wei Dai, manager of China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Corporation Limited and relevant personnel, attended this meeting and discussed the future orientations of research and development, and expected further applications in tunnel boring machine construction of Guangzhou Metro.

    Invited by the Progman, our research team visited the Progman office located in Helsinki ESPO District, Finland. Mr. Jukka, director of MagiCAD and MagiCloud, and his colleagues introduced the BIM-based development in Finland and demonstrated the lasted functions of MagiCAD for Revit. Subsequently, we discussed the interested topics deeply, especially in the design and the operation and maintenance of MEP system.

    The 17th International Conference on Computing in Civil and Building Engineering (the 17th ICCCBE), organized by The Finnish Society of Civil Engineers and Tampere University of Technology, was held in Tampere, Finland from June 5th to 7th. The ICCCBE was hosted by the International Academic Organization ISCCBE (International Society for Computing in Civil and Building Engineering) every two years. Dr. Jiarui Lin, Shuang Yuan and Kai Kang, from research team, had verbal report respectively during this conference.

    Yang Peng and Yi Zhou, master students under my supervision, successfully passed their thesis defense in the Department of Civil Engineering of Tsinghua University. Their these titles are "A Self-Learning Dynamic Path Planning Method for Evacuation in Large Public Buildings Based on Neural Networks and BIM" and "Research and Development of BIM-based Metro Protection System" respectively. After graduation, they will go to Shanghai and Shenzhen to promote the development on BIM and information technologies for civil engineering. Congratulations to them!
