Zhenzhong Hu

    He received both his BE and PhD degree in the Department of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University, China. He was a visiting researcher in Carnegie Mellon University.
    He is now the associate professor in Shenzhen International Graduate School, Tsinghua University, and also the secretary general of the BIM Specialty Committee of the China Graphics Society.
    His research interests include information technologies in civil and marine engineering, building information modeling (BIM) and digital disaster prevention and mitigation.

    Our new article entitled "Research on IFC-based Storage and Application of Sensor Information" has been published in "Journal of Graphics", 2018, Vol. 39, No. 03. In this paper, IFC-based sensor information storage method and application process are presented. Specifically, the description and association mechanism of sensor information in IFC are analyzed, followed by the extension of IFC property set to achieve the storage of such information. Finally, the IFC-based application process of sensor information is described. The proposed methods were applied to the HuaiFang Water Reclamation Plant in Beijing for validation.

    Totally 154 students graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Construction Management this year (2017.10-2018.7). About 8% students joined in the design and scientific research institutes, about 15% students in the construction enterprises, about 22% students in the real estate enterprises and about 20% students in the financial investment of construction enterprises. 5 students joined in the government departments. Peng Yang, the fourth master student under my supervision, successfully passed the thesis defense with the topic of "A self-Learning Dynamic Path Planning Method for Evacuation in Large Public Buildings Based on Neural Networks and BIM". Gloriously, he also won the title of "Outstand Graduates in Tsinghua University". Congratulations to Peng Yang!

    I participated in the preparatory meeting of the Fourth National BIM Academic Conference at the Management Institute of the fourth bureau of China Railway Group in Hefei, the capital city of Anhui Province. BIM Specialty Committee of China Graphic Society, as the host, we discussed with the local organizing Group on the topics of meeting date, groups of papers and special guest list. The chairman of BIM Specialty Committee, Professor Jianping Zhang, and Wu Jun and other leaders from the fourth bureau of China Railway Group, attended the meeting.

    The progress report meeting "Research and Demonstration on Big Data Management Technologies for Green Buildings within the Building Lifecycle”, directed by the Shanghai Academy of Building Research, was successfully hosted in Dalian University of Technology. Over 80 representatives from 24 companies attended this meering. The review board was organized by Academician YiJiang, from Tsinghua University, Jun Hao, chief engineer of China Urban Construction Design & Research Institute Co,. Ltd., Weiding Long and Dazhang Cheng, Professor of Tongji University, and Junyue Liu, deputy dean of Shenzhen Institute of Building Research Co,. Ltd. On behalf of our project team, I made a phased progress report on“Key technologies for Database and Data integrated of Building and MEP system” to the experts and the project principals.

    Invited by Prof. Nan Li for from Department of Construction Management, I participated in the "2018 Tsinghua Summer Workshop on construction Engineering and Management (Data Sensing and Analystics)" and made a presentation entitled "Mining and Analysis of TBM Monitoring Data" in Tsinghua University. Visiting Professor Lucio Sobelman, from the Department of Construction Management of Tsinghua University, Professor Dongping Fang, the CPC committee secetary of the School of Civil Engineering of Tsinghua University, and many experts including Nora El-Gohary, Wilson Lu, Hongling Guo, Yihai Fang, Pingbo Tang, Xuesong Shen, Nan Li, Jiariu Lin, Liang Wang attended the workshop and had deep discussions in the conference.
