Hu, Zhenzhong has been engaged in civil engineering information technology and digital disaster research work for many years, and gradually formed two complementary research mainlines of theoretical study and practical application.
For theoretical studies, Hu focuses on the cross-integration of traditional disciplines of civil engineering and modern disciplines of information technology, relying on the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Postdoctoral Science Foundation funding and successional funding, and the "Eleventh Five-Year" scientific and technological support of National Longitudinal research projects etc. These researches tried to improve the building information sharing and application by adopting BIM and 4D which are advanced and applicable information technologies. Hu carried out some fundamental researches about the information accessible, management, integration, sharing and application, and applied the results to solve the problems of time-dependent structure theory of safety analysis during the construction process. Hu has published 30 papers and some of the related research achievements have been incorporated into one local regulation and one national standard (in progressing) .
In practical applications, Hu focuses on transforming the scientific research to improve the technological development of building industry and related enterprises. Hu has some chances to acquire requirements from key projects of the nation or the provinces, or from key enterprises. Relying on a combination of a number of specific project research projects, Hu develops a series of software systems. These systems are applied to the Qingdao Bay Bridge, Guangzhou West Tower, Kunming new airport terminal, Shanghai international financial center, Shenzhen Airport T3 Terminal, Shenzhen Kerry Centre Phase II, IKEA Beijing, etc. Most of the projects are large-scale construction projects that invested thousands of million US dollars.
Hu has won the first prize of China Construction Science and Technology Award for two times (2009, 2010), and also a third prize of Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award.
